Step 5: Insert the Zip

INSERT THE ZIP

  • Machine along the 2cm tack line in from each side of the fabric panel to the 5cm mark.
  • Reinforce the stitch at the 5cm marks.
  • Note the tacking stitch between the 5cm marks is where the zip will be (the zip opening).
  • Ensure the zip is at least 4cm longer than the zip opening.
  • Lay the closed zip right side down onto the seam (centre of the zip on centre of the seam).
  • Machine stitch the zip onto the seam down both sides and across each end.
